St. Arnaoutakis: “We demand to have a safe National Road”
One day after the announcement by the Ministry of Development for the 125 mil. euros to be given for the National Road (from Kastelli, Chania to Sitia, Lassithi), the Prefect of Crete Stavros Arnaoutakis said:
“What we need is political will. We have seen that all major roads in the rest of Greece completed. Together with all Cretans, we claim of the Government to find all money needed for the National Road of Crete. These money can be found in European and National resources”.
“Intention of the Ministry for the National Road is to be made by private sector’s contractors. Afterwards, there will be tolls in every part of Crete. We have stated our position on the recent elections. We are against tolls in Crete. We are expecting to have a meeting with the Prime Minister and I think in September we will have some developments on this issue“.
“Crete belongs to Greece and it should not be forgotten that it is part of Greece. The government owes to reciprocate in Crete everything the island offers to the national budget”.
