As neatv.gr reports, a 4 year old boy died from meningitis two weeks ago in Chania Hospital (see here).
According to molecular exams, the 4 year old child died from meningitis, just 12 hours after his hospitalization.
As for the second child, he is now hospitalized in the Pediatric Clinic of the University General Hospital of Heraklion, and not in the Intensive Care Unit, as there is not any danger for his life.
It has to be mentioned that the vaccine for meningitis costs 105 euros per dose.
An infant needs two doses, which means 315 euros for every child in a family.
A child over 4 years old needs two doses (210 euros).
“There is no reason for panic”, said the manager of Chania Hospital, Mr. Charalambos Doulgerakis and advised the parents not to rush and buy the vaccine.
