Berlin working on plan to keep Greece in Eurozone if country defaults
According to weekly newspaper Die Zeit, Germany is working on a plan that will keep Greece in the Eurozone even if it defaults.
Citing government sources in Berlin, the German newspaper claims that such a scenario is being examined by the German Chancellery, as there are fears that Greece will not be able to fulfill its obligations in the coming months.
If this happens, the European Central Bank will have to stop supplying liquidity to Greece, says Die Zeit, adding that the scenario which is currently under examination ensures the continuation of ECB’s aid towards Greece.
It should be noted, however, that a short while ago, the German government spokesperson refused to comment on the claims of the specific article.
