Chania Airport: One step before closing?

The situation in all Greek regional airports is dramatic, due to financial problems for more than a year, as there are big debts to suppliers.

As reported a week ago, while the Greek Gov’t collects millions of euros from the airports… there is no airport in Greece which can cover its basic needs.

Chania Airport “Daskalogiannis” makes a deposit of 3.000 euros to the Bank of Greece, for every plane that departs… there is no fuel not even for the service cars!

According to, technicians can not go to check any radar, due to lack of fuel in the cars.

In some cases, there is no fuel for the fire trucks, which means that the airport must close.

Also, although there is a doctor in Chania Airport, there are no money to buy basic medicines!

And by next week… there will be no toilet paper in Chania Airport!!!

MPs of Chania Prefecture and Fin Min Giorgos Stathakis are informed for all those problems.

On Thursday morning, employees of Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority made a protest rally in the base of HCAA at Elliniko, Athens.
