A scientist of the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research was arrested in Ierapetra, because he was mapping the port, due to a European Research Program.
Officers of the Hellenic Coast Guard and arrested the scientist and his son, as… common criminals.
According to cretalive.gr they did not know anything about this specific research program.
The 67 year old scientist is facing charges for resistance to Authority.
The local Governor of Lassithi, Mr. Klontzas, said that “the arrest of the scientist is a disgrace for the area”.
“Six officers guard the scientist and his son… like common criminals”, said the Manager of the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research, Mr. Papadakis.
