Ten “municipal policemen” return in the city of Chania
Municipal police, abolished by the previous Greek government, return, but under a different name, in the city of Chania.
The new service is not called “municipal police”, as announced by the Mayor of Chania, Mr. Tassos Vamvoukas, during the last meeting of the City Council.
‘It will be a new municipal service, not like the municipal police, responsible for the controlled parking, the illegal occupation of public spaces, the public market and the beaches”, said Mr. Vamvoukas.
Ten municipal employees are already in this service and started working on Monday, by leaving warning notes to drivers who parked their cars without paying (in the parking meters).
