EXCLUSIVE PHOTO: Easyjet’s flight to Hurghada, Egypt, diverted to Chania, due to a security incident and bad weather
As officially announced by Easyjet, flight EZY8861, from London to Hurghada, Egypt, diverted to Chania Airport “Daskalogiannis” on Friday afternoon, due to a passenger welfare issue.
The aircraft remained on the ground for one hour whilst the police investigated the situation.
The cabin manager was interviewed by Greek police.
During this time and due to the quick descent into Chania ice built up on the aircraft wings.
Unfortunately there is no de-icing equipment available at Chania Airport.
The flight was overnight delayed in Chania International Airport, due to the disruption earlier taking longer than anticipated and the lack of de-icing facilities.
