A delegation of Greek farmers, protesting over planned changes to social security, submitted their proposals to the leftist-led government at 1.30 p.m. on Monday.
“We did not meet with the prime minister. We just submitted our requests” unionist Dimitris Dimogiannis said. “We give a 48-hour deadline to the government to answer on our demands and we shall then decide on future action,” he said.
The government of has promised to reform the costly pension system as part of a multi-billion euro bailout deal with its foreign creditors, but premier Alexis Tsipras has said he is ready to look at helping specific groups hurt by the changes.
