Mission accomplished for “Coasters”!
First day completed. Lots of blisters from a very difficult first stage but all ten starters in the photo made it to the finish, About 50 kms completed in just under 10 hours. Today’s walk starts in Stylos at 8am and finishes in Tavronitis about 6pm… more info to follow tomorrow.
Nine starters on the 23rd and nine finishers of the 100kms challenge (Ann Carter from 1st day only did the last 15kms) Attached photo is the group walking down the last 100 metres to the sea in Tavronitis.
Less than 20 hours walking time to do the route from Hora Sfakion to Imbros onto Askifou, then Vryses taking the old road to Nea Choria and finishing day one in Stylos
The second day was Stylos to Malaxa down to Mournies taking the back roads to Galatas onto Kalamaki where we met up with more walkers so that a group of 20 walked the last 15kms through Stalos, Agia Marina, Platanias, Gerani, Maleme and to the finish at Tavronitis…
We have raised several thousand Euros for UK and Chania Cancer charities which is still mounting up. I will have more accurate figures tomorrow but
Orizontas will be very pleased!
All the way from Hora Sfakion to Tavronitis we had support.
Friends and family shadowed us over the 100kms making sure we were fed and watered!
Wives, husbands and friends all gave their time, their food, their water, their invaluable support to help us!
Without their help, encouragement and support the 100kms Challenge would have been impossible and the walking group are totally in their debt and cannot thank them enough!!!
So far we have raised over 2000 Euros for Orizontas and it’s still increasing…and online over £4600 for UK Charities, again this figure is likely to increase. Is there anymore information you would like. We did the two walks in a total time of less than 20 hours, which was brilliant!!
