Coffee morning raises cash for families in urgent need of support

Even though the Apokoronas Welfare Association is doing a great job in supporting families in need with regular food bags, there are still cases of extreme hardship that the resources available to local welfare charities are not enough.

Such is the case of families  with more than three children where none of the parents are employed and when serious illness strikes the support  from council’s welfare organisation is not enough.

That’s when the local community steps in as was the case in an Apokoronas village where the local residents organised a  charity Coffee Morning. The well attended event  raised  583 euro for families in urgent need of support.

Ann Clayton who helped organise and run the coffee morning expressed her thanks to all who supported the event, the people who baked cakes and  helped on the day,  the village cultural association,  Apokoronas welfare and the local people who turned up in numbers to offer their support.
