Two more tourists drowned in Chania and Rethymno!

Two more deaths by drowning in Chania and Rethymno on Tuesday afternoon.

A 78-year-old man from Sweden died in the sea area of Agia Marina. Other bathers took him out of the water and a doctor tried to keep him alive.

He was transferred by ambulance to the General Hospital of Chania, but doctors just confirmed his death.

Also, a 58-year-old tourist died in the sea area of Plakias, Rethymno.

She was transferred to the Health Center of Spili but it was already too late for her.

  1. They really ought to do something, they’ve known how dangerous the riptides in this area are for a long time. My father drowned here in 1998, and yet the safety warnings and procedures are still utterly inefficient 20 years later.
