Curfew violations rise again; over 1,200 fines handed out on Sunday; 101 on Crete

The violations of the curfew to contain the spread of the coronavirus in Greece rose again on Sunday, police reported on Monday, with 2,193 fines handed out, while five persons were arrested for the illegal operation of shops and other businesses.

Specifically, police said that violations of curfew were recorded in the region of Attica (456), on the Ionian islands (117), on Crete (101), in Western Greece (101), in Thessaloniki (84), in Central Macedonia (64), in the Peloponnese (61), in Thessaly (48), in Epirus (45), on the southern Aegean islands (45), in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (40), on the islands of northern Aegean (31), in Western Macedonia (16) and in Central Greece (15).

It is noted that a total of 21,308 violations have been recorded since the first day of the measure on Monday, March 23.

Police also made five arrests for the illegal operation of business premises, 
Police said that 353 persons have been arrested in total since March 12, the first day of measures restricting shop operation.
