The Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis raised eyebrows with his sense of humour during the festivities for the Greek National Independence Day on March 25.
According to Vima, Varoufakis who was representing the Greek government at the parade in Chania, Crete, approached a colonel who was offering a military salute and said:
“Colonel, we are under attack”. The bemused officer asked the minister who was attacking Greece to receive the reply:
“We are attacked by … [Mario] Draghi”, said Varoufakis referring to the tough line adopted by ECB’s chief towards Greece.
